Inter Milan are considering a surprise move to bring defender Lorenzo Pirola back to the club, whilst Juventus lead the race for Jakub Kiwior.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.

This summer, Inter will make a defensive signing.

And the profile that the Nerazzurri are seeking looks to be quite clear. Sporting Director Pireo Ausilio openly admitted that Inter are in search of a left-footed defender.

This would be in order to reshuffle things at the back and bolster the defensive depth.

Last season, Carlos Augusto played a significant number of minutes on the left of the back three.

However, for the first few months of next season the Brazilian will be tied up on the flank. He will have to cover more at left-wingback due to a serious injury to Tajon Buchanan.

Therefore, Inter are looking to sign a defender who can back up Alessandro Bastoni on the left of the defense.

Inter Milan Consider Surprise Loan Return For Pirola – Juventus Lead The Way For Kiwior

According to Mediaset, Inter’s priority as far as signing a defender goes would be to seek out a younger player.

Torino’s Ricardo Rodriguez has been offered to the Nerazzurri. And they would consider the 31-year-old as a possible short-term solution.

But the age of a player like Rodriguez means that he would hardly be an investment for the future.

On the other hand, 22-year-old defender Pirola would constitute a signing with one eye to the long-term future rather than just an emergency signing to address an injury.

Pirola is in fact an Inter youth academy graduate. He has spent the last couple seasons as a Salernitana player however.

But with the Granata having suffered relegation, Pirola looks likely to leave this summer.

If Inter can convince Salernitana to loan the 22-year-old initially, they could bring him back.

Meanwhile, another left-footed defender who could be on the market is Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior.

The Gunners reportedly want 20 million for the Polish international, who is pushing to leave in order to receive more playing time next season.

Inter have shown an interest in Kiwior. However, according to Mediaset, it is the Nerazzurri’s Serie rivals Juventus who are the likeliest candidates to bring him back to the Italian top flight.
