Former Inter Milan forward Alexis Sanchez feels that mentality is a big strength of his ex-Nerazzurri teammate Lautaro Martinez.

Speaking to journalist Marko Gonzalez, via FCInter1908, Sanchez gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri captain.

Sanchez is a player who has had two separate spells playing together with Martinez.

The Chilean first arrived at Inter in the summer of 2019, joining from Manchester United.

At that time, Martinez was still finding his feet at the San Siro. He had only made the move from Racing Club the previous summer.

Sanchez, on the other hand, came in as a player with plenty of experience and well-known quality, having starred for the likes of Udinese, Barcelona, and Arsenal.

Therefore, the Chilean veteran was able to watch Martinez grow as a striker as well as a leader.

Last summer, Sanchez made the return to Inter on a one-season contract. This was just twelve months after he had left the club.

And when Sanchez returned, he came to a club where Martinez had become the captain.

The Argentine international had inherited the armband following the retirement of former skipper Samir Handanovic last summer.

Alexis Sanchez: “Lautaro Martinez Has A Strong Mentality”

Martinez has been Inter’s top scorer in each of the past three seasons.

Last campaign, the 26-year-old was not just the top scorer for the Nerazzurri. He scored more goals than any other player in Serie A.

Martinez has virtually grown season on season.

The Argentine is now arguably Inter’s most important player. Reports indicate that he will sign a new long-term deal this summer, committing his future to the Nerazzurri until the end of June 2029.

Former Inter forward Sanchez said that “Lautaro has a strong mentality.”

“In training, he always understands everything right away,” added the Chilean international, who lost to Martinez’s Inter at the Copa America this summer.
