Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly eager to snatch the services of Inter Milan teenager Valentin Carboni.

The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting youngsters to emerge from Inter’s youth ranks over the past few years.

The attacking midfielder spent the previous campaign on loan at Monza, contributing with two goals and four assists in 33 Serie A appearances.

The young man’s displays were impressive enough to earn him a call-up for Copa America. He is currently a member of the Argentina squad which reached the competition’s final.

Although he only made one cameo appearance thus far, Carboni will have the chance to win his first major international tournament.

Nevertheless, the player’s future at Inter remains anything but certain.

Due to the strong competition for places, Simone Inzaghi could struggle to find the youngster a prominent role next season.

Moreover, the management could decide to sacrifice his services to finance their market dealings.

So according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInter1908, Marseille are working to acquire Carboni’s signature.

Former Sassuolo and Brighton manager De Zerbi has recently taken over at the Southern French side. The Italian tactician is apparently a keen admirer of the Argentina international.

The Ligue 1 side would like to understand if a deal is feasible.

The source adds that Marseille are now confident they can strike an agreement with the Nerazzurri, but if the player gives his approval to join and ply his trade at the Stade Orange Velodrome next season.

Carboni has been on Inter’s books since making the move from Catania in the summer of 2020. His current contract is valid until June 2028.
