Inter Milan have reportedly held a meeting with the representatives of Hellas Verona fullback Juan Cabal.

The Nerazzurri are searching the market for a new defender following Tajon Buchanan’s injury, preferably one who can cover the left side.

Carlos Augusto will return to his original role as left wingback, serving as Federico Dimarco’s understudy. This will leave a gap at the back which the management is working on plugging.

The Italian champions have been linked with a host of profiles over the last couple of weeks. The list includes Kim Min-jae, Ricardo Rodriguez, Mario Hermoso and Jaka Bijol.

But in the last few hours, Cabal has emerged as the latest candidate for the role.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio had a summit with the Colombian’s agents earlier today.

The 23-year-old started his career at Atletico Nacional before making the move to Verona in 2022.

The left-back is coming off an impressive season at the Stadio Bentegodi.

His former manager Marco Baroni was trying to reunite with him at Lazio, but the Aquile have now resorted to Arsenal’s Nuno Tavarez.

Moreover, Stade Rennais had also knocked on the door before turning their attention to Lecce centre-back Marin Pongračić.

Inter Milan Had A Meeting With The Agents Of Juan Cabal

Therefore, Inter could find an open path to sign the Colombian who can play either as a left wingback or a left centre-back in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 tactical system.

As Pedulla explains, the Nerazzurri have already made contact with Verona ten days ago to inquire about the player.

Nevertheless, today’s meeting with the agents suggests that Inter’s interest has become concrete. They only have to find the right formula to secure an agreement with the Gialloblu.

On the other hand, the journalist confirms that Inter had made an attempt to sign Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal.

However, the Gunners are refusing to let the Pole leave on loan after splashing more than 20 million euros for his services 18 months ago.
