Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi expressed his delight with his new contract while holding his first press conference of the season.

The Italian champions took the opportunity to announce their agreement with the coach over a new contract valid until 2026.

Club president Beppe Marotta was present at the conference to deliver the news himself.

Inzaghi then took center stage, answering the reporters’ questions.

The 48-year-old insisted he’s very happy to extend his collaboration with the Nerazzurri, and that he never truly considered leaving despite receiving offers.

“I’m very happy, I thank the company, the president and the directors,” said the coach via FcInterNews.

“I feel at home, appreciated and that’s what matters most. We’ve never been far away in this month and a half.”

“Yes, I had some offers, but not just this year. But I’ve never thought of leaving. I feel appreciated and I don’t even listen to other proposals.

“I feel like I’m part of the family. There’s great synergy with the club and the guys, the fans, the appreciation is nice but never in my thoughts.”

After winning the Scudetto last term, Inzaghi says the objective this season is to make the fans happy.

“We will be aiming to make our fans happy so we can be happy too. 80 days have passed, we have been on holiday with our families and it was wonderful to meet so many Inter fans who thanked me and the team.

“The second star belongs to everyone, we have been a single body and we will have to be next year too. We would like to repeat this great journey.”

The Piacenza native admits the competition could become stronger this season, especially with Napoli and AC Milan hiring Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca.

“Two excellent coaches in the form of Conte and Fonseca are back in Serie A. Our opponents are getting stronger, we have to be ready.

“The two Roman clubs are working well. Lazio have signed Baroni, De Rossi is staying at Roma. And let’s not forget Bologna and Atalanta. Gasperini is doing very well, they have already made moves on the market, keep an eye on all of these clubs.”

Simone Inzaghi Delighted To Renew Inter Milan Contract

Inzaghi also revealed that Valentin Carboni could have an important role to play as an additional attacker in the squad.

“We are happy with our attack. Arnautovic and Sanchez did what we needed last season. Carboni gives us an extra option, you can have two players in front of him.

“He can be the fifth offensive option when needed. Having him in the squad can improve us in one-on-one situations.”

The former Lazio coach explained why Inter are looking to replace the injured Tajon Buchanan with a defender rather than a wingback.

“We have Carlos Augusto who we really like as a wingback. But at the same time, we discovered that he can act as Bastoni’s understudy and we had also taken Buchanan who did well on the left.

“Without Augusto at the back, we want to take another useful player to play that role. It’s an emergency that exists but it doesn’t make us lose sleep. Acerbi can also fill this role.”
