Inter Milan striker Sebastiano Esposito will reportedly complete his transfer to Empoli in the next few days.

The 22-year-old is one of three siblings who developed at the club’s youth sector.

His older brother Salvatore has already left the nest, joining Spezia on a permanent basis. On the other hand, the youngest of the trio, Francesco Pio, is still making strides.

For his part, Sebastiano earned a promotion to the first team during the 2019/20 and made a few appearances under Antonio Conte’s guidance.

But afterwards, he embarked on a series of loan moves. This saw him represent SPAL, Venezia, Anderlecht, FC Basel and Bari.

Last season, the young striker joined Sampdoria on loan, and managed to score six goals in 23 Serie B appearances between the regular season and the playoffs.

This season, Esposito should finally earn a crack at Italian top-flight football.

Empoli are keen to sign the Italy U21 international as they look to bolster their attacking ranks for the new season. The Tuscans have been negotiating a deal with the Nerazzurri for several weeks now.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Empoli are working to close the deal at the beginning of next week.

The transfer market guru doesn’t specify the formula of the operation. But earlier reports suggested an initial loan move with an option or obligation to buy.

But this could require the player to sign an extension with the Italian champions as his current deal is only valid until the end of the season.

Inter might also maintain some leverage over the player’s future by inserting a buy-back clause.
