Venezia midfielder Tanner Tessman is reportedly on the verge of signing for Inter Milan, although he’s unlikely to remain at the club this season.

The 22-year-old has been playing his football at the Venetian city since 2021.

Last season, he rose to prominence in what was a stellar campaign on a personal level. The American helped his team secure a promotion to the top flight after winning the Serie B playoffs.

But with his contract expiring next summer, Venezia are in a hurry to cash in on his services to avoid the risk of losing him for free next year.

In recent weeks, the Lagunari have been negotiating a transfer with Inter. The two clubs have also been discussing a potential move for Gaetano Oristanio.

The latter would go in the opposite direction, albeit on a separate transfer.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Tessman is now one step away from joining the Italian champions.

As the transfer market guru explains, the Nerazzurri already have an agreement in place with Venezia.

Inter are now working on reaching a full agreement with the USMNT star and his entourage.

Di Marzio also reveals that Tessman won’t be a part of Simone Inzaghi’s squad this season. The 48-year-old coach already has more than enough options in the middle of the park.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri management will be looking to find the midfielder a temporary club.

The source thus expects a loan move to a foreign club. This would allow the young player to collect some valuable experience before returning to Appiano Gentile next summer.

The Birmingham native started his career at Alabama before moving to Dallas in 2016.
