Hellas Verona are hoping that interest from Inter Milan, Juventus, and Lazio can create a bidding war for defender Juan Cabal.

This according to today’s print edition of Verona-based newspaper L’Arena, via FCInterNews.

Cabal has become a hot name on the transfer market in Serie A over the last few days.

The team with the strongest interest in signing the Colombian would appear to be Inter.

The Nerazzurri see Cabal as a strong candidate to reinforce their defensive options.

This follows an injury to wingback Tajon Buchanan. The Canadian international will miss the first few months of next season.

And with Buchanan on the sidelines, Inter’s plan is not to sign a direct replacement.

Rather, the Nerazzurri will shuffle the pieces around a bit. Carlos Augusto – who played a significant number of minutes on the left of the back three last season – will play largely or exclusively at wingback.

Inter’s initial plan would have been to rely on the versatile Brazilian partly as a defensive option.

But Augusto will be tied up on the flank. So the Nerazzurri will instead sign a left-sided defender.

Verona Hope For Inter, Juventus & Lazio Bidding War For Juan Cabal

Inter have identified Cabal as having an ideal profile for the left of their back three.

The Colombian is capable of playing either at left-back or centre-back. This would theoretically make him a very apt option in the back three.

Inter have already been in contact with Cabal’s representatives.

And the Nerazzurri are hoping to accelerate talks with Verona soon.

Inter want to complete a deal – likely a loan with a purchase option or obligation – on the basis of a fee of around 8 million plus 2 million in add-ons, reports L’Arena.

But Inter aren’t the only team with an interest in Cabal’s signature.

Juventus are also considering rivalling the Nerazzurri to sign the Colombian.

And Lazio could aim to reunited Cabal with former Gialloblu coach Marco Baroni.

Therfore, according to L’Arena, Verona are still hoping that they can get more for Cabal on the basis of the competition for his signature.
