Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi is not rushing back to training at the start of preseason, as he recovers from groin surgery.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the 37-year-old is doing individual recovery and fitness work to start preseason.

Former Lazio and Sassuolo defender Acerbi is one of the players starting preseason with Inter this weekend.

The 37-year-old is not one of the Italian internationals who will be back later this month following EURO 2024 participation.

Rather, Acerbi missed the Euros. This is due to the fact that he underwent surgery last month.

Acerbi went under the knife on June 3rd, to correct a problem with his right inguinal wall.

The veteran defender had been suffering from pulbagia towards the end of last season.

Acerbi was out of Inter’s squad during the last few weeks of the campaign.

Inter Defender Francesco Acerbi Not Rushing Back To Full Training As Preseason Begins

Acerbi’s surgery was a successful one, and necessary to relieve a nagging problem for the Italian.

The timing of the summer has been positive as it has allowed Acerbi a period in which to properly rest and recover from the procedure, even if it has entailed the disappointment of missing the Euros with italy.

And now, Acerbi is beginning the process of getting back up to speed for next season.

Naturally, Inter will hope that over the next few weeks the 37-year-old can really regain match fitness.

But there is no rush. Acerbi is still some way from his best physical condition for the time being.

Therefore, the Italian international is not yet back in full training.

Rather, Acerbi is working individually to begin preseason.

Then, over the coming weeks, the 37-year-old will feel out when he is ready to return to full training.
