Inter Milan are “one step away” from a deal to sign US international midfielder Tanner Tessmann from Venezia.

This according to Italian transfer target Niccolo Ceccarini. He reports that the 22-year-old-old’s transfer to the Nerazzurri is close on TuttoMercatoWeb.

In the last few weeks, Inter have been negotiating to sign 22-year-old US international Tessmann from Venezia.

The Venezia midfielder has emerged as something of a surprise target for Inter in the window.

Inter would hardly be trying to sign Tessmann for the immediate future.

Next season, Inter will have all of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, Kristjan Asllani, Davide Frattesi, and Piotr Zielinski as midfield options.

Therefore, there would not be any room for Tessmann in the squad.

Rather, the Nerazzurri see the American as more of a target for the longer term.

Therefore, Inter’s intention would reportedly be to sign Tessmann this summer, and then loan him out for next season. This could even be back to Venezia.

Inter Milan “One Step Away” From Completing Tanner Tessmann Deal

In the last few weeks, Inter have been in talks with Venezia to try and sign Tessmann.

The Nerazzurri have made their idea clear to the newly-promoted club to sign the American and then loan him back for the season.

And the talks have progressed positively.

Meanwhile, Inter are also waiting for Tessmann to finish up with his international duty. He will be part of the US international team at the Olympics in Paris later this month.

But it is only a matter of time now.

According to Italian transfer journalist Ceccarini, the move is “one step away” from happening.

Meanwhile, Ceccarini also confirms that Hellas Verona’s Juan Cabal is Inter’s top target in defense.

The 23-year-old Colombian is ahead of the likes of Mario Hermoso and Ricardo Rodriguez in the Nerazzurri’s shortlist.
