Inter Milan are closing in on the signing of defender Juan Cabal from Hellas Verona.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews. They report that signing a forward is nevertheless the priority of coach Simone Inzaghi.
Inter’s plan is coming together as far as responding to the unexpected absence of Tajon Buchanan due to injury.
The Nerazzurri will sign a left-sided defender. That will free up Carlos Augusto from having to cover on the left of the back three.
Therefore, the Brazilian can play exclusively at wingback while Buchanan is on the sidelines.
Moreover, there is a specific player Inter are moving towards signing. They are closing in on the signing of Hellas Verona defender Juan Cabal, reports the Corriere della Sera.
Inter Close In On Juan Cabal – But Inzaghi Wants A Forward
Cabal’s arrival would fill an important and unexpected void for Inter.
However, the Corriere della Sera report, it is not the real priority for Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi over the next few weeks.
The 48-year-old has always had a clear idea of how he wants the team to intervene before the end of the summer transfer window.
Inzaghi’s view is that there is still a need to sign a forward.
Inter have already made one notable attacking signing in the form of Mehdi Taremi. The Iranian has arrived on a free transfer from Porto.
And there is no doubt that Taremi adds quality, goals, and Champions League experience to the Nerazzurri’s ranks.
But one thing Taremi doesn’t do is give Inter a different profile than they already have in the squad.
Inzaghi wants a player with more versatility and one-on-one dribbling quality in the squad.
The coach’s dream in that respect remains Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, reports the Corriere della Sera.
