Inter Milan will hold off on making a decision about the future of teenage attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni until August.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the Agrentine’s future will be settled after he’s back from his post-Copa America holidays.

The future of Carboni looks to be one of Inter’s thorniest issues of the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old’s talent is certainly undeniable.

Carboni started to show what he is capable of in senior football last season on loan with Monza.

And this summer, the teenage attacking midfielder has been part of the Argentina squad that won the Copa America.

The teenager played only a peripheral role for the Albiceleste at the tournament.

Still, the fact that Carboni has been a part of Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni’s plan is a testament to the growth that he has made.

Carboni has already made his first start for his national team.

Inter To Hold Off On Valentin Carboni Decision Until Augusto

Carboni does not have a place in Inter’s plans next season, realistically.

Therefore, the prospect has been raised of the Nerazzurri selling the Argentine.

Marseille are the club keenest on Carboni’s signature. However, they’re not the only ones. Fiorentina, Atalanta, and Lazio are also keen.

A sale of the 19-year-old could finance a a move for a major transfer target like Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson.

But as the Corriere note, Inter certainly will not want to let go of Carboni for cheap.

30 million has been the figure floating around as far as a potential asking price for Carboni. However, the Corriere report, Inter’s demands would in actuality be closer to 40 million.

And it could be that Inter’s real preference is to simply loan Carboni out again.

The 19-year-old may not be part of the plan for next season. But Inter do still hope he could be part of their longer-term project, and another loan could be just what he needs.

In the meantime, Carboni is on holiday after the Copa America with Argentina.

The teenager should be back in training with Inter on the seventh or eighth of next month.

And according to the Corriere, Inter are likely to wait until then to make their final decision.
