AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni has aimed a jab at city rivals Inter Milan, declaring that the Rossoneri are “the biggest club in Milan.”
Speaking in an event commemorating the 125th anniversary of AC Milan, via FCInter1908, the club’s President joked that he “doesn’t know” of any other clubs in the largest city in the Lombardy region.
Inter and Milan are two of Italy’s biggest clubs.
Along with Juventus, the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are two of the three highest-profile clubs in Serie A.
Both Inter and Milan enjoy massive support not just in and around their city, but also all around Italy and globally.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are also behind only the Bianconeri in terms of trophy success.
Inter have won one more Serie A title than their city rivals – twenty compared to nineteen.
On the other hand, Milan have enjoyed greater success in Europe. Inter have won three European Cup and Champions League trophies – hardly anything to scoff at – but Milan have won six.
In the Coppa Italia, Inter can boast nine victories in the competition over their history. Milan, on the other hand, have on the Coppa five times.

Inter and Milan also share a stadium, famously.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have long both played at the San Siro in Milan.
The San Siro is certainly one of Italy’s most iconic football stadiums.
And the two clubs have forged a unique rivalry given this arrangement.
The Milan derby has been a fairly even fixture between the two city rivals over the years and decades. However, that has been less the case in recent years.
Since the 2021-22 season – in which Milan pipped Inter to the Serie A title by the slimmest of margins on the final day of the season after winning the derby in February – Inter have dominated the fixture.
The last six Milan derby matches have all ended in Nerazzurri wins.
And these have included some high profile ones.
In the 2022-23 season, Inter won the Supercoppa Italiana against their city rivals by an emphatic 3-0 scoreline. They followed this up by winning both legs of a massive Champions League semifinal tie.
Then last season, Inter won both Serie A derbies against Milan.
In the last one, the Nerazzurri clinched the title with three points in a fiery derby clash.
Milan President Scaroni declared that “Winning the Scudetto was a feeling unlike anything I’d had before in my life.”
“We’re an iconic institution,” the Rossoneri President continued. “But we still manage to be very young”
“The young people around me show passion.”
And Scaroni aimed a jibe at Inter – “We remain the biggest club in Milan.”
“I don’t know of any others,” joked the Milan President.
