Defender Francesco Acerbi is beginning his return to full training with the rest of the Inter Milan squad this week.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 37-year-old should resume full group training in the next few days.

Acerbi is one of the Inter players who has been part of the team’s preseason training camp from the very start.

The former Lazio and Sassuolo defender was not part of the Italy squad at the Euros.

The reason for Acerbi’s absence from the Azzurri team was that he had undergone groin surgery at the start of the summer. The 37-year-old went under the knife at the start of June.

This surgery was to correct a pulbagia problem that had started to emerge over the last few weeks of last season.

Francesco Acerbi Begins Return To Full Inter Milan Training

The recovery from surgery has also meant that Acerbi has not been part of the full group as Inter have started their preseason training.

Rather, over the weekend the Italian international has worked individually.

Naturally, the priority is to have Acerbi heal fully, and have a return to real match-fitness.

Therefore, there has hardly been a rush to get the 37-year-old back into full training.

But at the same time, a return to training with the rest of the group has always been the target for Acerbi.

And according to Sky, the veteran defender has already begun his return to the group.

In today’s session, the broadcaster reports, Acerbi was part of athletic training with the rest of his teammates.

The 37-year-old is not yet participating in tactical work on the pitch. But this should not be too far away, reports Sky.

Therefore, in the next week or so, Acerbi should be back to training as normal.
