Striker Sebastiano Esposito is set to undergo medicals ahead of his loan move from Inter Milan to Empoli.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
Esposito spent last season on loan with Sampdoria in Serie B.
The young Inter striker has gone out on a number of loans over the past few seasons.
Esposito has played for the likes of SPAL, Venezia, and Bari in loan spells in the Italian second division in addition to the Blucerchiati.
Meanwhile, Esposito has also had a couple of loan spells outside of Italy.
The striker has played for the likes of Basel in the 2021-22 season, and Anderlecht for the first half of the 2022-23 campaign.
A few clubs have shown an interest in signing Esposito during this summer transfer window.
These included Sampdoria, who would have liked to have brought the 22-year-old back after his performances in Liguria last season.
But it is in Tuscany that Esposito will be playing next season.
Sebastiano Esposito Set To Undergo Medicals On Loan Move From Inter To Empoli
Serie A Empoli have been negotiating with Inter for a few weeks to try and sign Esposito.
The Tuscan side are aiming to reinforce in attack for new coach Roberto D’Aversa.
Last season, Empoli only very narrowly avoided relegation to Serie B. It took a dramatic late winning goal by Mbaye Niang in their final match of the season against Roma to save the Tuscans.
And particularly with Niang gone, Empoli will certainly want to strengthen in attack for another season potentially battling relegation.
Therefore, it is Esposito who the Tuscans have targeted.
Reports suggest that the 22-year-old had put the brakes on the deal for a time. He was considering a return to Sampdoria instead.
But now Empoli have everything in place to bring Esposito in.
The Gazzetta report that the medicals are now scheduled for the next couple days, and then the 22-year-old will become an Empoli player.
