The question of a loan formula is the key hurdle in negotiations for Juan Cabal between Inter Milan and Hellas Verona.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Inter want a loan with a purchase option, whilst Verona are insistent on a purchase obligation.

Inter are now working to try and wrap up a deal to sign Verona defender Cabal.

The Colombian is the Nerazzurri’s main target in defense.

Inter’s objective is to bring in a left-sided defender who can bolster their options in the back three.

This is due to the long-term injury suffered by Tajon Buchanan.

With the Canadian set to miss several months at the start of the season while he recovers from a leg break, Carlos Augusto will be playing primarily or exclusively at wingback next season.

The versatile Brazilian had played a significant number of minutes on the left of the back three last season.

Therefore, with Augusto tied up on the flank, Inter want another option who can cover the left side of the defensive line.

And Verona’s Cabal is the player who the Nerazzurri are going after.

Loan Formula The Key Hurdle In Juan Cabal Talks Between Inter & Verona

Inter have already agreed personal terms with Cabal.

The Nerazzurri met with the representatives of the 23-year-old yesterday, where they reached an agreement on a four-year deal with the option of a further season.

Then, there were also discussions with Verona.

However, the Gazzetta note, these did not quite lead to an agreement.

The clubs are negotiating on the basis of a valuation of around 10 million for Cabal.

But the question is how the deal will be structured.

Inter are keen to sign Cabal on an initial loan deal. And they are insisting on a purchase option, potentially one which could become mandatory under certain conditions.

Verona, on the other hand, want a mandatory obligation full stop.

Therefore, the clubs still have work to do to find a structure that works for both of them.

Meanwhile, young Inter winger Issiaka Kamate could become part of the deal. He could go the other way in order to reduce the cash fee Inter pay for Cabal.
