Inter Milan are out of the race to sign Hellas Verona defender Juan Cabal after an eleventh-hour swoop by Juventus.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInterNews. He reports that the Bianconeri will sign the Colombian in a deal worth 12 million, and Inter will move on to other targets.

Inter have been working to try and sign Verona defender Cabal over the last week or so.

The Nerazzurri have been in talks with both the player’s representatives and with Verona.

Inter have had an agreement in hand with Cabal on personal terms for a couple of days now.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have also gotten close to an agreement with the Gialloblu.

Cabal is the player Inter have aimed to sign in order to reinforce on the left of their back three.

This has been the result of an injury to wingback Tajon Buchanan.

With Buchanan set to miss the first few months of next season, Carlos Augusto will be needed at wingback primarily. Therefore, the Brazilian cannot cover in defense.

As such, Inter have been searching for a left-sided centre-back.

And Cabal appeared to be the player who the Nerazzurri would be signing for that role.

Inter Won’t Counter Juventus Offer For Juan Cabal

However, Di Marzio reports, Juventus have moved in at the eleventh hour.

The Sky transfer expert reports that the Bianconeri have offered Verona a deal worth around 10 million plus 2 million in add-ons.

This is sufficient for the Gialloblu, as it is higher than Inter’s offer.

And moreover, Di Marzio reports, Cabal himself has also agreed terms with Juventus.

Therefore, it would be up to Inter to make their own last-minute counter-offer.

But according to Di Marzio, the Nerazzurri will not do so.

This means that Cabal is on his way to Juventus, The agreement is there with both Verona and with the player, so the Bianconeri can complete the signing in the coming days.

Inter, meanwhile, will move on to a different target.
