Torino could rival Inter Milan for the signing to Venezia and US international midfielder Tanner Tessmann after selling Ivan Ilic.

This according to Turin-based newspaper La Stampa, via FCInterNews.

This summer, Inter have been aiming to sign midfielder Tessmann from Venezia.

The 22-year-old is a player whose name looks to have come up in other talks between the two clubs.

The Nerazzurri reportedly see Tessmann as a player for the future in midfield.

Naturally, the US international would not be a player Inter will have as part of their midfield next season, considering the presence of six senior options already in the squad.

Inter have added Piotr Zielinski to a midfield containing the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, Kristjan Asllani, and Davide Frattesi this summer.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri’s plan would be to sign Tessmann this summer. But loan him out for next season.

Reports had indicated that Inter could loan Tessmann back to newly-promoted Venezia.

But the likes if Everton, Ipswitch Town, and Feyenoord are all reportedly keen on the American as well.

Torino Could Rival Inter For Tessmann After Ilic Sale

Torino are also keen on signing Tessmann, however.

The Granata could have an ace up their sleeve now, moreover.

Torino have just completed a deal with Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg.

The Piedmontese club are selling the 23-year-old midfielder to the Russian club for a fee of €22 million, plus an additional €3 million in add-ons.

With that cash in hand, Torino are now looking to sign a central midfielder to replace Ilic.

Inter have made an offer to Torino for Tessmann that is worth around €7 million.

However, with the fee that they received for Ilic’s sale to Zenit, Torino could very well make a higher bid. Therefore, they are considering trying to move ahead of Inter to sign Tessmann.
