Inter Milan are still hellbent on signing Albert Gudmundsson, and have apparently devised a new plan that includes an innovative formula.

The Nerazzurri have been on the player’s trail for quite some time now. However, they are still struggling to put the deal over the line for financial reasons.

Genoa are requesting at least 30 million euros to part ways with their main talisman, a figure that the Italian champions cannot forge at the moment.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInter1908, the Nerazzurri are now working on a new plan alongside the player’s agent.

Inter could thus propose an expensive loan, worth 10 million euros. But in this case, they wouldn’t include an obligation to buy, but instead, a mere option to purchase the striker at the end of the season.

The Beneamata feel that the hefty loan fee should be enough to protect Genoa’s interest in case they opt against buying the player next summer. After all the Grifone would still be able to sell the Icelandic star, albeit for a lower fee.

However, the main hurdle could lie in the purchase fee. As the pink newspaper reveals, Inter wouldn’t want the player’s buy-clause to go beyond 15 million.

This would take the total cost of the operation to 25 million euros, which remains lower than Genoa’s asking price.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri must still work on freeing up some space before launching an onslaught for Gudmundsson.

The Italian champions must find Joaquin Correa a new home. The former Lazio striker returned from a disappointing loan spell with Olympique Marseille.

The Argentine’s presence is becoming an increasingly bigger concern for the club.

Furthermore, offloading Marko Arnautovic would give Inter some breathing room on the wage bill. However, the Austrian has often reiterated his desire to remain at Appiano Gentile.
