As part of Oaktree Capital’s project, Inter Milan are looking to add yet another teenage wonderkid to their ranks in the shape of Giovanni Leoni.

The Nerazzurri have already acquired the services of 18-year-old Luka Topalovic, a Slovenian attacking midfielder.

Moreover, the Italian champions are on the cusp of signing Real Betis teenager Alex Perez. The 18-year-old defender reportedly underwent his medicals on Wednesday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, these operations fit well within Oaktree’s plans.

The New Inter owners are looking to build a young squad with players who can raise the club’s value.

Therefore, the management will be looking to follow up on the Topalovic and Perez signings by poaching Leoni.

The 17-year-old rose to prominence last season after making the move from Padova to Sampdoria in January.

The teenage defender almost immediately made himself a regular starter in Andrea Pirlo’s lineup.

With 12 appearances and 766 minutes, he became the most player to feature in senior Italian football among players born after 2006.

But as the pink newspaper notes, Inter have yet to kickstart concrete negotiations for the youngster. The Nerazzurri have only held some informal chats with agents and intermediaries.

After making his move to Sampdoria permanent this summer, Leoni penned a contract valid until June 2027.

As the source notes, the teenager has already proven his ability to play either in a three-man defense or a back four.

Leoni has already made one appearance for Italy’s U18 side.
