Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi is still hoping his club succeeds in signing Albert Gudmundsson. However, the management still has to overcome a major hurdle.

The Iceland star’s potential move from Genoa to the Nerazzurri has been one of the main transfer sages of the summer thus far.

The 27-year-old set Serie A ablaze last season with his delightful performances for the Grifone.

Therefore, the Iceland international earned himself a host of suitors, with Inter leading the queue.

However, Genoa don’t fancy losing the services of their main talisman for anything less than 30 million euros.

So in the past few weeks, the Italian champions have been lurking, but have yet to find the right formula to seal the deal.

According to Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews, Inzaghi is still eager to have Gudmundsson at his disposal for next season.

The 48-year-old feels that the Genoa star has the agility and the technical skills that his attacking department currently lacks, especially following the departure of Alexis Sanchez.

But as the source explains, the main issue remains the club’s overcrowded attack.

Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Eager To Sign Albert Gudmundsson

The Nerazzurri’s striking unit currently includes club captain Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, new signing Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic.

Moreover, Joaquin Correa and Valentin Carboni returned from their respective loans to raise the tally to six forwards. They are all vying for two spots in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 tactical system.

Hence, the report insists that Inter must postpone all talks regarding Gudmundsson’s arrival until they manage to trim their attack.

In recent days, circulating reports have discussed a potential loan move for 10 million euros with an option to buy.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the Grifone would be open for this solution.

Earlier today, Genoa president Alberto Zangrillo suggested the Iceland international could remain at the Luigi Ferraris after all.
