Juventus coach Thiago Motta would like to put the massive gap with Inter Milan from last season behind him and focus on a fresh start.

The 41-year-old was one of the finest central midfielders during his heyday. He represented Inter while at the peak of his powers, winning the famous treble in his first season at Appiano Gentile.

The former Italy international has now cemented himself as one of the most brilliant young managers in Europe.

Last season, he led Bologna towards a historic Champions League qualification.

But at the end of the day, he opted against renewing his contract with the Emilians, succumbing to the lure of the Bianconeri.

Juventus unveiled their new manager at a press conference held at Continassa on Thursday.

The Italo-Brazilian discussed his ambition to kickstart a new winning cycle at the club.

“I am happy, content, and satisfied to be the coach of a historic club like Juventus,” said Motta via FcInterNews.

“I am convinced that today we can open an interesting cycle. The first few days were wonderful, I found myself in a very beautiful structure and with prepared people.

“I thank the fans and I am happy to be here.”

Thiago Motta Discussed Last Season’s Gap Between Inter Milan & Juventus

Expectedly, the journalists asked the new Juventus boss about the rivalry with Inter.

The Bianconeri kept pace with the Nerazzurri during the first half of the previous campaign. However, Max Allegri’s side collapsed in mid-season, ending the campaign 23 points adrift from the champions.

“The gap with Inter is in the past now. We mustn’t think about it. Now, we must fully concentrate, because we must be ready for the matches to come.

“We have to prepare well and concentrate as much as possible to have a good pre-season. We have to win like all the big teams. It’s a great responsibility.”
