Inter Milan cannot afford to sell Joaquin Correa for a figure below 8 million euros, as it would constitute a capital loss.

The Nerazzurri signed the 29-year-old from Lazio in the summer of 2021.

But while he was a key figure in Simone Inzaghi’s plans during their time together in the Italian capital, he couldn’t replicate the same mesmerizing displays at San Siro.

After enduring two underwhelming campaigns at Appiano Gentile, Inter sent him on loan to Marseille last summer.

While the club was hoping that the Argentine would rediscover his groove in France, it proved to be an utterly abysmal experience. The player failed to deliver a single goal or assist throughout the season.

Correa has now returned to Appiano Gentile, placing himself at Inzaghi’s disposal for the pre-season.

He was even a starter in attack alongside Mehdi Taremi in the friendly against Lugano. He scored the opener in the contest that ended 3-2 in favor of the Italian champions.

But as Tuttosport (via FcInterNews) explains, the striker has often delivered the goods in pres-season before fading during the campaign.

Therefore, Inter have no intention of maintaining the striker. On the contrary, the management is hellbent on cashing in on services.

Inter Milan Won’t Sell Joaquin Correa For Less Than €8M

However, the Nerazzurri cannot afford to sell him at any price, as they wouldn’t want to register a capital loss on the balance sheet.

Inter spent circa 32 million euros on the player’s transfer fee in 2021, signing him on a four-year deal. Hence, his amortization cost is worth 8 million euros per year.

So with only one year left on his contract, Correa’s nominal value on Inter’s books is 8 million, which is why the club wouldn’t want to sell him for a lower figure.

The source adds that AEK Athens are keen to sign the Argentina international. However, the Greeks would struggle to afford his wages.

On the other hand, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkiye has yet to be concretized through a genuine offer.
