Maurizio Romei, who first discovered Juventus stat Federico Chiesa, claims Inter Milan are genuinely interested in his old pupil.

The 26-year-old currently finds himself at a career crossroads. His contract with the Bianconeri will expire in June 2025, and the club’s new head coach Thiago Motta reportedly considers him inapt to his tactical system.

Therefore, the Euro 2020 winner could be heading out of Continassa. But while some sources have been linking him with a move to AS Roma or Napoli, an emerging story is suggesting a sensational move to Inter.

Settignanese president Romei is a good friend of Chiesa having discovered his talent at an early stage. The two men are still in constant contact.

In a new interview, Romei revealed that Inter’s interest in the Italy international is true.

“I’m actually aware of Inter’s interest in Chiesa. The rumour of their appreciation is real,” he told TuttoJuve journalist Mirko Di Natale.

“Federico is on the transfer list. And surely, even with other clubs, something can happen between now and the end of August.”

Nevertheless, Romei believes Chiesa has what it takes to convince Motta of keeping him at Juventus.

“I asked him if he’ll stay at Juventus. He told me to evaluate other choices, mostly because Federico wants to play in the Champions League.

“So I told him to go abroad, adding that he needs a coach after Allegri who can give him confidence again.

“But before making a decision, I advised him to talk to Thiago Motta because I met him and he is a very serious person.”
