Inter Milan would be open to loaning attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni, but only if there is a purchase obligation.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

This summer, Marseille have been perhaps the club with the strongest interest in Carboni.

The Ligue 1 team have been in talks with Inter for several weeks.

Carboni’s future has always been one of the major question marks at Inter this summer transfer window. The 19-year-old could either leave on a permanent basis, or on another loan.

And since former Brighton and Hove Albion and Sassuolo coach De Zerbi’s arrival, Marseille have earmarked a deal for Carboni as one of their priorities for the summer.

In the meantime, however, Marseille have completed a deal to sign English forward Greenwood.

The French club have confirmed the arrival of the controversial Englishman in a deal worth more than 30 million.

Naturally, that is a big outlay for Marseille.

And this raises the question of how much more the Ligue 1 side will be able to invest this summer.

Inter reportedly want at least 40 million if they are to sell Carboni this summer.

Inter Milan Open To Loaning Valentin Carboni To Marseille With Purchase Option

The prospects for Marseille to sign Carboni outright this summer would appear to be low given the finances involved in a deal.

However, that does not mean that the Ligue 1 side have lost interest in signing the Argentine teenager.

Carboni remains a major target for Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi.

One possible strategy for the French team to sign Carboni would be to sign the player on an initial loan deal.

According to FCIN, Inter would not have a problem with this formula.

However, the Nerazzurri would then want there to be a purchase obligation in the deal.

FCIN report that Inter would expect it to be a mandatory obligation rather than just an option to make the deal permanent.

And then, the outlet expects, the Nerazzurri would certainly want the obligation to be set at a high fee.
