Talks for Inter Milan to sign Venezia midfielder Tanner Tessmann have ground to a halt, opening the door for Brentford or Celtic to sign the American.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the Scottish and English clubs have joined Torino, Como, and Parma in tracking Tessmann.

Inter have been in talks to sign Tessmann from Venezia for over a month now.

The 22-year-old emerged as a surprise name in the Nerazzurri’s summer transfer shortlist.

And as far as an agreement with Venezia goes, Inter seem to have everything in hand. They have been discussing a transfer of Tessmann for several weeks now.

Venezia’s Sporting Director even confirmed that the newly-promoted club have “closed the deal” for Tessmann.

So negotiations with Venezia have not been a problem for Inter.

But what has proven to be an issue has been the negotiations on the player’s side.

Inter Talks For Tanner Tessmann Halt – Door Open For Brentford & Celtic

Reports indicate that, even though Inter more or less have an agreement with Venezia in hand, they have struggled to agree personal terms with Tessmann.

Part of the reason for this has been financial.

The 22-year-old and his representatives have been asking for more than Inter are willing to offer in terms of wages as well as agent commissions.

Then there is the matter of where Inter would send Tessmann out on loan.

Reports indicate that there has been some friction in the discussions on the future pathway for the US international if he is to join Inter.

Therefore, Sky reports, Inter have all but pulled out of talks for Tessmann.

That leaves the door open for other clubs. Torino have already shown an interest in Tessmann this summer. And Sky anticipate that Venezia’s fellow newly-promoted teams Como and Parma could also move.

Then, there is also interest from abroad.

Sky report that Brentford are interested in bringing Tessmann to the Premier League. And Scottish giants Celtic could also move.
