Legendary former Inter Milan midfielder Nicola Berti says he is “already in love” with new Nerazzurri signing Mehdi Taremi.

Berti praised the 32-year-old Iranian international in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

One of the big name arrivals at Inter has been striker Taremi.

The Iranian joins the Nerazzurri on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Porto at the end of last month.

Taremi has been an Inter player for a little over a week now. His adventure in a Nerazzurri shirt is only just beginning.

There is the sense, however, that things have certainly gotten off on the right foot.

For one thing, Taremi has started preseason right away. He was among the players who began the training camp last weekend.

And this has given Taremi ample time to work with Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.

Therefore, the 32-year-old should have something of a head start on settling in.

There were very early signs of this in Inter’s first friendly match of the season.

Taremi was in the Nerazzurri starting eleven for a behind-closed-doors friendly match against Lugano. And he did not just player – the Iranian scored twice.

Of course, there is a lot of work left to do for Taremi at Inter.

But at the very least, he has already gotten started on the right foot.

Berti: “Already In Love With Mehdi Taremi, Inter Still The Strongest Team In Serie A”

Former Inter midfielder Berti compared the Nerazzurri to city rivals AC Milan.

“Even with the possible arrivals of Samardzic and Fofana at Milan, I think Inter have the strongest midfield,” he said.

Berti argued that “The Rossoneri are undergoing a major transition. Particularly with the change in coach.”

“Meanwhile, Inzaghi can rely on a proven and stable midfield, and has also added a player of the calibre of Zielinski.”

“I believe the Pole will become fundamental to this team,” Berti predicted.

“And he’ll allow Calhanoglu or Mkhitaryan to take a breather if necessary.”

“And we can’t forget about how the high number of matches will force more rotations,” Berti said.

“Scudetti are won in midfield,” he argued. “I know the role well. And it’s another reason why the Nerazzurri remain ahead of everyone else this season.”

“Barella remains my favourite player,” Berti said. “But I must confess I’ve already fallen in love with Taremi – he’s incredible!”
