Botafogo and Panathanaikos are in talks for defender Georgios Vagiannidis, and Inter Milan could bring in a €2.5 million sell-on fee.

This according to Greek football journalist Aris Antonopoulos. He reports that the Brazilian club are ready to pay a fee of around 6.5 million in total for the 22-year-old, with Inter set to receive a 40% sell-on fee.

Young Greek right-back Vagiannidis spent a total of one year as an Inter player.

The defender joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2021. He joined from Greek Super League side Panathanaikos.

Vagiannidis spent the 2020-21 season on loan with Sint-Truiden in Belgium. However, it was not a successful loan spell for the Greek.

Vagiannidis made just one appearance for Sint-Truiden across the entire 2020-21 campaign. This came in a cup match.

Therefore, it was little surprise when Inter allowed the Greek to rejoin Panathanaikos.

Just twelve months after signing for the Nerazzurri on a free transfer, Vagiannidis made the return to his boyhood club on a free transfer.

Botafogo & Panathanaikos In Talks For Georgis Vagiannidis – Inter Could Pocket 2.5M

Inter did not get a transfer fee for Vagiannidis when they sent him back to Panathanaikos in the summer of 2021.

However, the Nerazzurri did agree that they will receive a significant chunk of any fee that the Greek club receive for the Greek Under-19 international.

The total resale percentage that Inter are entitled to is 40%.

And that could become quite significant this summer.

According to Greek football journalist Aris Antonopoulous, Brazilian side Botafogo have stepped up as surprise suitors for Vagiannidis.

Botafogo are in talks with Panathanaikos. They are ready to do a deal for a fee of around 6.5 million.

Meanwhile, the Brazilians have offered the 22-year-old a contract worth around 1 million net per season.

Therefore, if the transfer does take place, Inter would bring in a sell-on fee of around 2.5 million.
