Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson is looking to make the step up this summer, with Inter Milan and Juventus keen on his signature.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews. The newspaper expect that the Grifone will demand €30 million for the Icelander.
Last season was certainly a breakout campaign for Gudmundsson in Serie A.
The Icelandic international has been at Genoa since January of 2022. He joined from Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar in that window as part of the Ligurians’ unsuccessful bid to stay in Serie A.
Therefore, Gudmundsson spent the 2022-23 season in Serie B with Genoa.
However, the Grifone were not in the second division for long. They took just a single season to win promotion back to Serie A as champions of Serie B.
Gudmundsson was an important part of that campaign. And he proved to be even more crucial for Genoa in their first season back in the top flight.
Albert Gudmundsson Wants A Step Up From Genoa – Inter & Juventus Keen
Last season, Gudmundsson scored fourteen goals and assisted seven for Genoa.
The 26-year-old not only made the step up to Serie A and adjusted after a season spent in the second division – he enjoyed the best form of his career thus far.
Therefore, there is a sense that Gudmundsson would be ready to make a further step up.
And that this would likely have to come outside of Genoa.
From the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have been admirers of Gudmundsson.
But at the moment, a move to a bigger team within Serie A looks more likely for the former AZ Alkmaar forward.
Inter are the team who have been most strongly linked with a move for Gudmundsson. Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi reportedly sees him as the ideal profile to complete the attack.
But Juventus are also keen on the 26-year-old.
Genoa, for their part, would certainly wish to cash in if Gudmundsson leaves. La Repubblic report that they would want no less than €30 million to sell him.
