Inter Milan have received positive news regarding the injury recoveries of both Tajon Buchanan and Francesco Acerbi.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

In the past few weeks, there have been a couple of Inter players to undergo surgery.

One is former Club Brugge wingback Buchanan.

The injury occurred in training whilst the 25-year-old was with the Canadian national team at the Copa America.

Buchanan fractured his tibia. The injury reportedly occurred whilst the Inter wingback challenged for the ball with a teammate during a training session.

Buchanan was rushed to hospital following the injury. It was quickly determined that he would require surgery, and the Canadian went under the knife the following day.

Obviously the injury is a serious one, and the recovery timeline is hardly a short one.

Therefore, it has always been clear that Buchanan would be out not just for the preseason period, but also for a few months at the start of the upcoming campaign.

And then there is defender Acerbi. The veteran former Lazio and Sassuolo defender underwent surgery at the start of June to correct a groin problem.

In the case of Buchanan, the 25-year-old is still recovering from surgery.

A return to the training pitch is still a long way away for Buchanan.

However, things may not be quite as negative as Inter had initially feared.

There had been some reports that Buchanan could even be on the sidelines for the remainder of 2024.

However, it is now looking as though Buchanan can realistically expect to be back as early as the end of October.

And Acerbi’s recovery has also been coming along well.

The 37-year-old has been part of Inter’s preseason training camp since it started last weekend.

But Acerbi has not initially been in full training. There has hardly been a need to risk that, so the Italian international has just worked individually to build up his fitness.

But now, everything is looking positive for Acerbi. He is essentially ready to train normally with the rest of his teammates, and gain match fitness in friendlies to come.
