Nantes are continuing to push to try and sign Inter Milan goalkeeper despite competing interest from Filip Stankovic.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews.
Inter are virtually certain to send keeper Stankovic out on another loan next season.
The Serb spent last season on loan with Sampdoria.
The Blucerchiati had a purchase option that would have become an obligation to sign Stankovic on a permanent basis at the end of last season had they won promotion to Serie A.
However, Sampdoria failed to do so.
Therefore, Stankovic is likely to go to a different club on loan.
Sampdoria had in fact shown an interest in bringing Stankovic back to Liguria for next season.
However, it has been teams in Serie A that have really come forward. Empoli had sounded out a loan for the 22-year-old.
But it has been Venezia who have really pushed for a deal as far as Italian teams. The newly-promoted team are looking for a new keeper, and have been in negotiations with Inter.
Nantes Still Pushing To Sign Venezia Linked Inter Keeper Filip Stankovic
There is not just interest in signing Stankovic from within Serie A, however.
SportItalia confirm that Nantes are also keen to sign the Serbian youth team international.
Despite Venezia’s attempts to get a deal for Stankovic over the line, Nantes are continuing to try to convince both the player and Inter on a loan deal.
In the meantime, Inter have reportedly made an offer the other way. They have put in a bid of around €13 million for the French club’s defender Nathan Zeze.
Nantes rejected that offers for Zeze, however.
Goalkeeper Stankovic spent both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons on loan with Volendam in the Netherlands. He was at the club along with former Inter teammate Gaetano Oristanio.
Stankovic helped Volendam reach promotion to the Eredivisie. And then they played a big part in keeping the team in the Dutch top flight.
