The agent of Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo has revealed that the first club to try and sign the 30-year-old this summer were Inter Milan.
Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, Di Lorenzo’s agent Mario Giuffredi gave some backstory on the Nerazzurri’s interest in the defender this summer.
Di Lorenzo is set to stay at Napoli this summer.
The Italian international wears the captain’s armband at the Partenopei, where he has been playing since 2019. He captained the team to the Serie A title in the 2022-23 season.
However, this is a u-turn from a few weeks ago. It had looked as though Di Lorenzo would be departing from Naples.
Di Lorenzo and his agent made no secret of the fact that he wanted to leave.,
This was the result of the fact that the Italian felt that he did not have the trust of his club.
However, in the end Napoli have convinced Di Lorenzo to stay. The arrival of Antonio Conte as new coach certainly has something to do with this change in decision.
Agent Of Giovanni Di Lorenzo: “The First Call Came From Inter Milan”

Inter reportedly were considering Di Lorenzo as a prospective replacement for Denzel Dumfries in the event that the Dutchman had left.
Meanwhile, Juventus were also pushing to sign Di Lorenzo according to widespread reports.
The interest in signing Di Lorenzo appeared not long after it became apparent that he was pushing to leave Napoli.
“The first team to call me was Inter,” the player’s agent Giuffredo revealed.
“You pointed out Juve. But Inter came first.”
“They have Dumfries,” the agent noted. “But he only has one year left on his contract. So they asked for information.”
