Marseille could make another offer to sign Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni.
This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla. He reports on his YouTube channel that the Ligue 1 side have not dropped their interest in signing the 19-year-old.
This summer, Marseille have been perhaps the club with the strongest interest in Carboni.
The Ligue 1 team have been in talks with Inter for several weeks.
Carboni’s future has always been one of the major question marks at Inter this summer transfer window. The 19-year-old could either leave on a permanent basis, or on another loan.
And since former Brighton and Hove Albion and Sassuolo coach De Zerbi’s arrival, Marseille have earmarked a deal for Carboni as one of their priorities for the summer.
In the meantime, however, Marseille have completed a deal to sign English forward Greenwood.
The French club have confirmed the arrival of the controversial Englishman in a deal worth more than €30 million.
Naturally, that is a big outlay for Marseille.
And this raises the question of how much more the Ligue 1 side will be able to invest this summer.
Inter reportedly want at least €40 million if they are to sell Carboni this summer.
Marseille Could Still Make Another Offer For Inter Attacking Midfielder Valentin Carbono
According to Pedulla, Marseille remain interested in signing Carboni.
He anticipates that another offer could come in for the teenage attacking midfielder from the French club.
The big question would then concern whether Marseille can make a bid for Carboni financially viable.
One possibility would be for the Ligue 1 side to sign the Argentine on loan.
This could be an initial loan containing a purchase option or obligation. That would enable Marseille to defer the payment for Carboni.
However, Inter could then decide to instead focus on sending Carboni out on another dry loan to develop him with more playing time.
