Inter Milan have reportedly identified Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior as their main target to fill the gap at the back.
The Italian champions are currently searching the market for a new left-footed defender.
This is mainly due to Tajon Buchanan’s injury which forced Simone Inzaghi to reshuffle. Carlos Augusto will return to his original role as a backup for Federico Dimarco on the left wing.
Hence, Alessandro Bastoni is now without a clear understudy.
Over the past few weeks, the Nerazzurri have been monitoring several profiles. This includes Juan Cabal who eventually ended up at Juventus.
But according to Tuttosport via FcInter1908, Kiwior remains Inter’s primary target for his particular position.
The 24-year-old is a Poland international who made a name for himself during his time at Spezia.
This earned the defender a high-profile transfer to Arsenal in January 2023. But after 18 months at the Emirates Stadium, he has yet to cement himself a regular starting berth.
And with Riccardo Calafiori joining the Gunners, Kiwior will fall even further down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order.
Hence, the Pole will be hellbent to seal a move elsewhere in the hopes of earning more playing.
Inter Milan Devise Plan To Sign Arsenal Defender Jakub Kiwior
But while Inter are looking to pounce for the Tychy native, the source expects them to bide their time.
As the Turin-based newspaper explains, the Nerazzurri believe they can secure better terms towards the end of the summer transfer session.
That is when the clubs become desperate to offload the players deemed surplus to requirements.
This would grant Inter stronger leverage in their negotiations with Arsenal for Kiwior.
The former Spezia star has a contract with the North Londoners valid until June 2028.
