Lazio could offer Joaquin Correa an escape rope from his Inter Milan woes, but a deal could only materialize on one condition.

The 29-year-old returned to Appiano Gentile following a miserable loan spell at Marseille.

But despite being an old pupil of Simone Inzaghi, the club considers the Argentine surplus to requirements.

As explained yesterday, Inter would have to sell Correa for at least 8,5 million euros to avoid a capital loss.

Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri could also consider rescinding his contract if they fail to find a buyer. This would at least allow them to get rid of his wages as well as the amortization cost.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, this last solution would suit Lazio.

The Biancocelesti are considering bringing back their former striker who enjoyed a successful spell at the Stadio Olimpico between 2018 and 2021.

The Italian capital side has identified Sassuolo’s Armand Lauriente as their main target to bolster the attacking department.

However, the Neroverdi aren’t willing to relinquish the Frenchman for anything less than 15 million euros. On the other hand, Lazio president Claudio Lotito is refusing to splash more than 10M.

Therefore, the talks between Lazio and Sassuolo risk faltering in the coming days.

Lazio Open To Bringing Back Inter Milan Striker Joaquin Correa On Free Transfer

But as the Roman newspaper explains, this scenario could see Lazio resort to Correa. However, Lotito would only be interested in re-signing the Argentine on a free transfer.

Therefore, the former Sevilla and Sampdoria man would have to free himself from his Inter contract which expires in 2025.

If the Italian champions grant him his release, this could pave the way for a return to the Italian capital.

Correa enjoyed the most prosperous spell of his playing career at the Stadio Olimpico. He has been on the decline since joining Inter in 2021.
