Inter Milan youngster Valentin Carboni is on the verge of finalizing a transfer to Olympique Marseille.

The two clubs have been in talks for several weeks now, as Roberto De Zerbi is keen to work with the 19-year-old.

As reported last evening, the parties managed to find a breakthrough, suggesting that the deal is about to reach the finish line.

This morning, Il Corriere dello Sport (via FcInterNews) revealed that Carboni is now one step away from finalizing the transfer.

As the Roman newspaper explains, the teenager has expressly chosen OM, as he’s also intrigued by the opportunity to work under De Zerbi’s guidance. He believes the Italian tactician can help him take his game to the next level.

The source adds that the operation will cost the French club 40 million euros in total.

It will be an initial loan move worth 4 or 5 million euros. OM will also have the option to buy the player for circa 35 million.

Nevertheless, Inter won’t relinquish their control over the youngster’s future. Therefore, they will insert a buy-back clause that allows them to reclaim the player’s services by repaying a slightly higher transfer fee than the one received.

Carboni is one of the hottest talents to emerge from Inter’s youth ranks over the past few years.

Last season, he had his initial professional experience as a regular starter while playing for Monza on loan. He provided two goals and four assists in 33 Serie A appearances.

The Argentine’s impressive displays at the U-Power Stadium earned him a call-up to the senior national team that went on to lift the Copa America earlier this month.

Carboni primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also feature on the wings or as second striker.
