Inter Milan currently have six first-team players running on expiring contracts. So how does the management plan to proceed on this front?

Over the past few months, the Nerazzurri have been working on securing the services of their main stars on long-term deals.

The likes of Federico Dimarco and Nicolo Barella have already put pen to paper, while Lautaro Martinez should follow suit upon his return to Italy next month.

Nevertheless, Inter still have several players who running on contracts with close deadlines.

Il Corriere dello Sport (via FcInterNews) reveals how Inter are planning to tackle this issue.

Among the six players concerned, Denzel Dumfries is the most pressing file. This is mainly due to his importance within Simone Inzaghi’s tactical plans.

Moreover, the Dutchman is only 28 years of age, so he still has a significant value on the market. Hence, the management would loathe to lose his services for free next year.

So luckily for Inter, they have finally managed to register an important breakthrough in their talks with Dumfries’ entourage.

What Inter Milan Plan To Do With Their Six Players Who Are Running On Expiring Contracts

The Netherlands international is now willing to sign a new contract that will raise his wages to 4 million euros.

The source expects Inter to conclude this operation shortly following the wingback’s return from vacation.

The other five players whose contracts will expire in 2025 are Matteo Darmian, Marko Arnautovic, Stefan de Vrij, Francesco Acerbi and Raffaele Di Gennaro.

As the Roman newspaper explains, the Nerazzurri are in no rush to sign new deals with any of them. After all, we’re talking about players who are above the age of 30, so their market values have already dwindled.

The report claims that Arnautovic in particular could leave the club immediately, that is if Inter can find him a buyer.

As for the others, the hierarchy will monitor their conditions during the season before deciding whether or not to offer them new contracts.
