Inter Milan and Marseille are negotiating terms on a deal for teenage attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the transfer should be a paid loan with a purchase option and a buyback clause.

This summer, Marseille have been perhaps the club with the strongest interest in Carboni.

The Ligue 1 team have been in talks with Inter for several weeks.

Carboni’s future has always been one of the major question marks at Inter this summer transfer window. The 19-year-old could either leave on a permanent basis, or on another loan.

And since former Brighton and Hove Albion and Sassuolo coach De Zerbi’s arrival, Marseille have earmarked a deal for Carboni as one of their priorities for the summer.

In the meantime, however, Marseille have completed a deal to sign English forward Greenwood.

The French club have confirmed the arrival of the controversial Englishman in a deal worth more than 30 million.

Naturally, that is a big outlay for Marseille.

And this raises the question of how much more the Ligue 1 side will be able to invest this summer.

Inter & Marseille Negotiating Terms On Valentin Carboni

However, Marseille have not dropped their interest in Carboni.

And reportedly, the teenager has pushed for the move. He believes that a transfer to Marseille would be the right next step for him.

Therefore, Inter and Marseille have been trying to work out a formula for a transfer that satisfies both clubs.

According to Tuttosport, the deal should be an initial paid loan move.

Then, there will be a purchase option in favour of Marseille. They can sign Carboni on a permanent basis for 35-36 million at the end of the loan deal.

However, Inter will have the option to sign Carboni right back.

This would take a payment of 4-5 million over what Marseille would pay for the 19-year-old.
