Inter Milan are confident that Man United linked wingback Denzel Dumfries will sign a contract extension soon.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. They report that the Dutchman will sign a new deal until the end of June 2028 worth 4 million net per season.

It is not yet certain exactly what Inter will do on their right flank this summer.

Everything will depend on the future of 28-year-old Netherlands international Dumfries. Specifically, his contract situation.

At the moment, Dumfries is under contract with Inter until the end of next June.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri have been pushing to extend the Dutchman’s deal.

If Dumfries does not sign a contract extension then Inter will look to sell him this summer, cashing in while they still can.

And if Dumfries is to be on his way then Inter will move for a replacement. Particularly with the serious injury suffered by Tajon Buchanan this summer they’d be seeking a starting-quality player.

Inter Confident That Man United Target Dumfries Will Sign New Deal

If Dumfries were to be on his way, Manchester United would be a potential destination for him.

There have been links involving a swap deal with United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, Inter’s priority remains to tie Dumfries down on a new contract.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has always made it clear that he wants to keep the Dutchman. Having worked together for three years, the coach trusts the wingback fully in his 3-5-2 system.

The talks between Inter and Dumfries had reportedly stalled during the winter and spring.

This was because of a gulf between Inter’s offer and the wage demands by Dumfries and his representatives.

But Dumfries wants to stay at Inter. Therefore, he is ready to accept the offer that the Nerazzurri have made clear is the highest they can go – 4 million net per season plus add-ons.

As such, Inter remain very confident that Dumfries will put pen to paper sooner rather than later.
