Inter Milan have identified Monaco wingback Vanderson as their top target to replace Denzel Dumfries if the Dutchman doesn’t extend his contract.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

It is not yet certain exactly what Inter will do on their right flank this summer.

Everything will depend on the future of 28-year-old Netherlands international Dumfries. Specifically, his contract situation.

At the moment, Dumfries is under contract with Inter until the end of next June.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri have been pushing to extend the Dutchman’s deal.

If Dumfries does not sign a contract extension then Inter will look to sell him this summer, cashing in while they still can.

And if Dumfries is to be on his way then Inter will move for a replacement. Particularly with the serious injury suffered by Tajon Buchanan this summer they’d be seeking a starting-quality player.

Inter Line Up Monaco Wingback Vanderson As Replacement If Denzel Dumfries Leaves

There have been linked between Inter and Bologna’s Dan Ndoye this summer as a prospective Dumfries replacement.

However, Tuttosport report, the Nerazzurri are put off by Bologna’s 25 million asking price for the Swiss.

On the other hand, the newspaper anticipate, Inter wouldn’t hesitate to offer a similar fee for Vanderson.

The 23-year-old is currently a Monaco player.

And Tuttosport report that agents have already offered Vanderson to Inter.

The Brazilian international has exactly the kind of profile the Nerazzurri want in a wingback. He would certainly constitute a like-for-like replacement for Dumfries.

Therefore, Tuttosport report, Vanderson would be the player Inter intend to move for if Dumfries leaves.

But everything depends on contract extension talks between Inter and Dumfries.

The former PSV wingback will be back in training next week. The contract talks will follow immediately.

If Dumfries does agree a new deal with Inter then there would certainly be no move for Vanderson.
