Inter Milan and Marseille are working out the financial details of a transfer of teenage attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni.
This according to Italian journalist Franco Vanni. He reports in a tweet that the Argentine will join Marseille on an initial loan deal which will contain a €40 million purchase option.
This summer, Marseille have been perhaps the club with the strongest interest in Carboni.
The Ligue 1 team have been in talks with Inter for several weeks.
Carboni’s future has always been one of the major question marks at Inter this summer transfer window. The 19-year-old could either leave on a permanent basis, or on another loan.
And since former Brighton and Hove Albion and Sassuolo coach De Zerbi’s arrival, Marseille have earmarked a deal for Carboni as one of their priorities for the summer.
In the meantime, however, Marseille have completed a deal to sign English forward Greenwood.
The French club have confirmed the arrival of the controversial Englishman in a deal worth more than €30 million.
Naturally, that is a big outlay for Marseille.
Marseille are still completely determined to sign Carboni this summer, however.
And the Argentine wants the move to work with De Zerbi.
Therefore, Marseille are aiming to get a deal done on the basis of an initial loan deal, so that it can be financially viable for them this summer.
Su Valentin Carboni, Inter e Olympique Marsiglia trattano su queste basi:
– prestito oneroso a 1 o 1,5 milioni più stipendio pagato dal Marsiglia (l’Inter così risparmia 4 milioni)
– opzione di riscatto per il Marsiglia fissata a 40 milioni

Inter & Marseille Negotiating Financial Terms On Valentin Carboni Deal
Italian journalist Vanni reports that Carboni will indeed join Marseille on an initial loan.
This will be a paid loan deal with a fee of around €1-1.5 million, he anticipates.
Then, at the end of next season, Marseille will have a purchase option on Carboni. They can sign the Argentine for a fee of €40 million.
Inter, however, will have a buyback option in the event that Marseille exercise that option. The Nerazzurri can pay the French club €3-4 million more than they initially pay to sign back Carboni.
Meanwhile, Vanni reports, Inter will offload Carboni’s €4 million net per season wages next season.
He reports that the two clubs are now working out the final details. Then, Carboni can return to Italy to complete the move.,
