It was the “same old Inter Milan” on show in their friendly win over Las Palmas, with Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski slotting in seamlessly.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday, Inter played their third friendly match of preseason.

And the match against Las Palmas was the most significant match of the summer yet.

In previous friendlies against the likes of Lugano and Pergolettese, Inter had used the opportunity to test their physical condition and start gaining match fitness.

But with many key players missing, the Nerazzurri’s squad still looked very much like a half-finished version of itself.

Yesterday, Inter had a number of important players back. Most notably the Italian internationals in the team.

Players like Nicolo Barella, Federico Dimarco, and Alessandro Bastoni got on the pitch in the second half, having returned lat week from their post-EURO 2024 vacations.

The same was the case with Francesco Acerbi. The veteran defender missed the Euros after undergoing groin surgery, but is returning in time for the club season’s start.

“Same Old Inter Milan” On Show Vs Las Palmas – Taremi & Zielinski Slot In Seamlessly

Given how successful last season was for Inter, the team are not necessarily looking for big changes this summer.

Therefore, the question to answer in friendlies this summer is whether the players can pick up where they left off.

And in the view of the Corriere, the answer yesterday against Las Palmas was yes.

All over the pitch, the relationships, mechanisms, and chemistry that made Inter so formidable last season were evident.

The squad looked very much like a team who have spent three years together with Simone Inzaghi shaping their style of play.

And crucially, that also seemed to be the case for new arrivals Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski.

That duo may have only just joined Inter this month. But both have slotted right in, suggesting that their integration period won’t stop the momentum from last season carrying over.
