Beppe Marotta feels that he is President of Inter Milan so that he can keep striving to bring the club to the highest level.

Speaking to Italian journalist Gianluca Rossi, via FCInterNews, Marotta gave his thoughts on his role as Nerazzurri President.

Marotta has now been Inter President for a couple of months.

The 67-year-old took over in the role after the departure of Steven Zhang.

Zhang had been Inter President whilst Suning had owned Inter. However, with the former owners’ departure, new owners Oaktree Capital had to select a new President to replace Zhang.

And in the end, Oaktree went with someone who would bring a sense of continuity and stability at the top.

Former Juventus and Sampdoria executive Marotta has been Inter’s CEO of sport since 2018. He has become an increasingly influential figure at the club.

And Marotta remains the Nerazzurri’s CEO. But with the title of President, he has become more than just an executive shaping Inter’s transfer policy.

Marotta is a leader at Inter, not just informally, but in a truly official sense.

Beppe Marotta: “I’m Inter Milan President To Reach The Highest Level”

Marotta opened up about what the title of President of Inter means to him.

“Having the role of President of Inter is a source of enormous honour for me,” said the 67-year-old.

“It’s a repayment for all the sacrifices I’ve made throughout my entire career,” Marotta said.

“The first thing for me has always been to try and bring Inter to winning ways.”

Marotta also gave his thoughts on how he compares to legendary former Inter Presidents Angelo and Massimo Moratti.

“I’m not comparable to the Morattis,” said the current Nerazzurri President.

“Or to the Fraizzolis or the Pellegrinis.”

“But I’m a person who loves football, and loves Inter,” Marotta said.

“So I hope I can give something back to the club. Something to be proud of, like the club has enjoyed in past years under previous Presidents.”
