Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco feels that there is “still a lot of work” for the Nerazzurri to do before the start of next season.

The Italian international spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, after the team’s 3-0 friendly win over Las Palmas.

Inter now find their preparations for next season well underway.

The Nerazzurri have been in training for over two weeks now. And they have played three friendly matches, winning all three.

Inter’s preparations have still very much been in stages, however.

The past week has been an important one, as it has seen the return of all of the Italian internationals in the squad to training.

The likes of Dimarco, Nicolo Barella, Matteo Darmian, Alessandro Bastoni, and Davide Frattesi were all part of Italy’s squad at the Euros this summer.

Therefore, all five had an extended vacation after the tournament.

Meanwhile, veteran defender Francesco Acerbi missed the Euros. He underwent groin surgery last month, but is back in training for Inter now.

Federico Dimarco: “Still A Lot Of Work” For Inter Milan To Do In Preseason

The Italian internationals in Inter’s squad have still only been training for a few days.

Therefore, they are far from their best. They will take the next few weeks to re-find their best physical condition and match rhythm.

However, all of the Azzurri players in the Inter squad did get a chance to get out onto the pitch against Las Palmas in Inter’s third friendly match of preseason.

The most eye-catching contribution came from wingback Dimarco. The 26-year-old scored a spectacular goal to chip the Las Palmas keeper from not far over the halfway line.

Inter’s squad is starting to show their match-fitness.

Nevertheless, there is certainly still a long way to go.

Wingback Dimarco remarked that “It’s great to get back to smiling.”

“But there’s still a lot of work for us to do,” the 26-year-old added.

“This will be a long and difficult season ahead,” Dimarco said. “We have to maintain last season’s level.”
