Inter Milan target Ricardo Rodriguez has seen talks with Real Betis and clubs in the Saudi Pro League fall through.

This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla. He reported on his Twitch stream, via FCInter1908, that the Swiss has yet to find a new club as Inter continue to consider him as an option in defense.

Former AC Milan and Wolfsburg defender Rodriguez remains on the free transfer market.

The 31-year-old has spent the last four seasons with Torino.

However, Rodriguez’s contract with the Granata ran out at the end of last month. And he did not manage to find an agreement on an extension.

Therefore, Rodriguez is free to join a new club without a transfer fee.

Inter Target Ricardo Rodriguez Sees Real Betis & Saudi Pro League Talks Fall Through

Inter have been among the clubs to view Rodriguez as a target.

The Nerazzurri are in search of a defender who can play on the left side of their back three.

This would be to allow Carlos Augusto to play primarily as wingback whilst Tajon Buchanan is out for the first few months of next season, following the Canadian’s serious leg break this summer.

Rodriguez is a player who very much fits the profile that Inter are seeking.

The Swiss international has played at both fullback and on the left of a back three throughout his career.

Rodriguez has played predominantly in a back three in the last three with Torino, under coach Ivan Juric. That is also the position he has played in for Switzerland in recent years.

Moreover, Rodriguez would be a convenient option, and Inter could sign him with a minimal investment. Therefore, he would be a stopgap solution for the Nerazzurri.

Inter are not the only club to have considered a move for Rodriguez.

However, SportItalia transfer expert Pedulla reports, talks between the Swiss international and Real Betis have fallen through. The same has been the case in negotiations with Saudi clubs.
