Inter Milan have put Zenit St. Petersburg’s Robert Renan and Dinamo Zagreb’s Mauro Perkovic on their defensive shortlist.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri could move after making a couple of notable sales.
One of Inter’s major remaining priorities for the last few weeks of the summer transfer window is to sign a defender.
The idea would be to sign a left-sided defender to deputize for Alessandro Bastoni.
Last season, Carlos Augusto had played regularly on the left of Inter’s back three. However, the Brazilian will need to play primarily at wingback with Tajon Buchanan missing the first few months of next campaign.
Therefore, Inter want to sign a left-footed player who would be suited to the role.
The Nerazzurri have been considering their strategy in this pursuit for a few weeks.
But now, Inter should have the cash on hand. They are close to completing sales of Lucien Agoume and Martin Satriano.
Robert Renan & Mauro Perkovic On Inter Defensive Shortlist
Inter owners Oaktree Capital have made the priority to sign a younger defender.
The Nerazzurri owners want to bring in a player with prospects for growth as well as resale value.
And according to the Gazzetta, there are two targets in particular who Inter are eyeing up.
One is Zenit St. Petersburg defender Robert Renan.
Zenit would reportedly want around €20 million for the Brazilian. That would be no small amount.
However, Inter could be ready to make a move after selling Agoume and Satriano.
Meanwhile, Inter are also tracking Dinamo defender Mauro Perkovic, reports the Gazzetta.
The 21-year-old is capable of playing both at centre-back and left-back. In that sense he would be exactly the profile Inter are looking for.
Perkovic would cost around €7 million, reports the Gazzetta.
The newspaper also adds that Inter could wait until the second half of August to sign a defender.
