Sampdoria are still keen on bringing goalkeeper Filip Stankovic back from Inter Milan despite competition from Nantes and Venezia.

This according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews.

Inter are virtually certain to send keeper Stankovic out on another loan next season. They could even sell him outright.

The Serb spent last season on loan with Sampdoria.

The Blucerchiati had a purchase option that would have become an obligation to sign Stankovic on a permanent basis at the end of last season had they won promotion to Serie A.

However, Sampdoria failed to do so.

Therefore, Stankovic is likely to go to a different club on loan.

Sampdoria had in fact shown an interest in bringing Stankovic back to Liguria for next season.

However, it has been teams in Serie A that have really come forward. Empoli had sounded out a loan for the 22-year-old.

But it has been Venezia who have really pushed for a deal as far as Serie A teams. The newly-promoted team are looking for a new keeper, and have been in negotiations with Inter.

Meanwhile, Nantes are keen to bring Stankovic to Ligue 1.

Sampdoria Still Keen On Bringing Back Filip Stankovic From Inter

Another possibility for Stankovic, however, could be a return to the club where he spent last season.

Sampdoria have not given up on trying to bring the 23-year-old back this summer.

The Ligurian club may have failed to win promotion to Serie A last season.

However, Sampdoria are still seeking continuity this summer. They want to build on last campaign, which saw them reach the promotion playoffs after a rocky start.

And keeping Stankovic would be an important part of that aim.

The Serb was an important player for Sampdoria in goal last season.

And the Blucerchiati are still one of three possible destinations for Stankovic at the moment. They are very much going head-to-head with Nantes and Venezia.
