Inter Milan are looking to understand what Marko Arnautovic has in mind ahead of the new campaign, as their entire plans depend on the veteran’s stance.

The Austrian signed for the Nerazzurri last summer, completing a switch from Bologna.

While it wasn’t his most prosperous campaign, he still earned a Serie A title and an Italian Super Cup while serving as a backup for Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

But with Mehdi Taremi joining the fray, Arnautovic will find playing time hard to come by next season. The 35-year-old will simply become Simone Inzaghi’s fourth-choice striker.

So according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the management is looking to hold talks with the player in the coming days.

The club directors would like to know what the player’s intentions are. Is he willing to remain at Appiano Gentile despite his reduced role? Or will he seek a new career adventure?

As the pink newspaper tells it, the former West Ham striker is leaning towards the first option. After all, he has often reiterated his desire to stay at the club.

The source adds that the player has suitors in Turkey but that has yet to convey into a concrete offer.

And as long as he’s staying put at the club, the Nerazzurri won’t be able to sign a new striker. That’s because bringing a new player to the fold requires freeing up some space in the squad and on the wage bill.

The experienced bomber will have the chance to prove his worth this evening in a friendly test against Pisa. He will likely be in the starting lineup due to Mehdi Taremi’s injury.
