Inter Milan are seriously considering a surprise move to sign out-of-favour Juventus forward Federico Chiesa this summer.

This according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the Nerazzurri may not even wait until the Italian international is available on a free transfer.

At the moment, Chiesa looks like a player who will be leaving Juventus this summer.

The 26-year-old’s current contract with the Bianconeri runs until the end of next June.

Juventus and Chiesa have been in contract extension talks for over a year at this stage.

However, they have yet to find an agreement on a new deal for the former Fiorentina winger.

Chiesa’s somewhat underwhelming season last time out hasn’t helped – he scored ten goals across all competitions, though the feeling was that he was rarely decisive.

Nor has the Italian international’s injury record. Persistent fitness problems have sometimes kept Chiesa on the sidelines, or hindered his momentum and consistency.

Given Chiesa’s contract situation, Juventus have made no secret of the fact that they are aiming to offload the 26-year-old.

Inter Could Make Shock Move For Juventus Outcast Federico Chiesa

With Chiesa out of the plans for new Juventus coach Thiago Motta, the Turin giants have been searching for a solution for the Italian.

Roma had shown an interest at one stage. But the Giallorossi instead decided to sign Juventus winger Matias Soule.

Meanwhile, La Repubblica note, a swap deal with Napoli for Giacomo Raspadori is another idea Juventus would consider.

But then there is always the interest from Inter.

The Nerazzurri have been persistently linked with Chiesa, particularly due to the Italian international’s contract situation.

Inter’s propensity for a big name free transfer coup has meant their interest has seemingly focused on next summer.

However, reports La Repubblica, a move this summer cannot be entirely ruled out.

If Inter are to sell fringe forwards like Joaquin Correa and Martin Satriano, then they may well have the cash on hand to make an offer that Juventus would feel they have no option but to accept.
