Inter Milan will wrap up contract extension talks with Denzel Dumfries this week.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri are aiming for the decisive meeting in the next couple days now that Dumfries is back from EURO 2024.

Dumfries is now back in training for Inter.

The Dutchman returns following an extended holiday period, after having reached the semifinals of the Euros with the Netherlands.

Dumfries will start getting ready for next season with his teammates in preseason. Inter’s Serie A campaign kicks off in two weeks with a match against Genoa.

But there is also a key priority for Dumfries off of the pitch.

The 28-year-old’s contract situation has seen some doubt arise about his future. However, it is for this reason that Dumfries will pen an extension with the Nerazzurri.

Inter Milan To Seal Denzel Dumfries Contract Extension This Week

At the moment, Dumfries is under contract with Inter until the end of next June.

The Dutchman is still on the same contract that he signed when he joined from PSV in the summer of 2021, which was a four-year contract.

Dumfries currently earns around 2.5 million net per season.

Given this situation, Inter have aimed to tie Dumfries down on a new deal.

The Nerazzurri would have no intention of risking losing the Dutchman on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires, as happened with defender Milan Skriniar last summer.

Reports have indicated that Inter would even try to sell Dumfries this summer if he did not sign a new deal, cashing in while they have the chance.

But it will not come to that. Dumfries is ready to sign a new contract.

The talks have been ongoing for a few months, although they did hit some early stumbling blocks.

An agreement has been found, however. Dumfries will sign a new four-year deal until the end of June 2028 with Inter.

The Nerazzurri will hold a round of talks with the Dutchman’s representatives this week. It should be in the next couple days.

And Inter expect that this will be all it takes to see Dumfries put pen to paper on a new deal.
